Conditions for Green Card Insurance

It provides coverage within the limits of the compulsory traffic insurance of the country where the accident occurs.
In order to be able to travel by car to a country that is a member of the Green Card system, firstly the Traffic Insurance must be taken out and then the Green Card Insurance must be taken out.
The Green Card must be green in colour and must not be erased or tampered with in any way.
Single digit days and months in the beginning and end of the period must be preceded by a zero digit.
In case of loss of the Green Card, it is obligatory to provide the insurer with a report prepared by the official authorities stating that the Green Card has been lost or stolen.
Green Card cannot be issued for vehicles with foreign licence plates other than Turkish licence plates.
Green Card cannot be issued to vehicles that have been banned from traffic.
Green Card application is managed by the Turkish Motor Vehicles Bureau in Turkey. Vehicles with this insurance must apply to the Green Card office if they suffer any damage abroad.

Green Card Insurance Renewal
If there is no damage record from the previous policy in the renewal process, it is possible to benefit from the no-claim discount offered at certain rates. Green Card insurance is issued annually and renewals are also made annually. Renewal can be made online.

The validity of the Green Card insurance must be checked before travelling abroad. The query can be made via the internet with the Republic of Turkey E-Government application.
